My Dearest Topshop

Topshop, I love thee so, but sometimes you do make me question things.

Number one... I know Boutique has some random things sometimes, but I'm usually craving most of the collection...
this jacket however?

I don't understand... it is a pyjama jacket. What one wears to bed yes?
So why on earth would you pay so much for something you could buy at M&S?
Why on earth would you wear a pyjama jacket as outdoor wear?
How is this ever going to be flattering?? The silk blazers they have in at the moment are lovely but this is... it's a pyjama jacket!

Number two... I have avoided the Chanel-inspired stars trend so far. Although others, including Miss Chung, look fabulous in the print, I can't see a way of wearing them myself.

To be honest, I think it's down to a girl from college last year. She was a bit of a bitch and was usually dressed in some star-printed item... and thus I immediately relate stars to her. I also quite liked the oversized hair slides that were around last year till she started wearing them... it sounds pathetic but the mind is a funny thing I suppose.

However, Topshop has presented me with this offer

And I adore. I crave. I lust for.
Strapless? Hell yeah. Strapless jumpsuit? Gimme. Now.

Number three... they need to stop producing all these lovely ruffled items. I can't afford anymore.
The most wonderous being this dress

Some of you may remember the EXACT same one in the Peter Jensen collection last year... yet it was selling for £75. I debated and debated on whether I could spend that much on a dress. I even dreamt about it. And then it sold out. And I actually could have cried. Whenever it came to mind my face would crumple.
THEN in the Peter Jensen collection of this year it returned! However it was grey... it didn't have the same feel to it as the black version. And so I began to debate again. It was indeed the most perfect dress... but could I really pay so much? And then fork out even more money to dye it? Oh it was a quandry.
And then it came back. In black. At £35. Sans Peter Jensen label. I've never ordered something so fast in my life!

And the ruffles and frills keep a-coming...

*le sigh* My poor bank account...

We like this man. For various reasons. He is very lovely.

He bought me the Office shoes I have been craving for months.

Proof he is lovely.

Why We Love Vintage continued...

4. It's eco-friendly (as rightly pointed out by Fleurette!)
Rooting through mother's wardrobe I found this...

Looking like a black dress at first glance... it's actually a very sheer material. Methinks mucho layering fun can be had with it!

5. It's charitable
Not only are we helping our wardrobes, we are helping the charities we buy from! Always nice.

Found these 2 beauts last week in the newly-moved YMCA shop.
Is it very bad I actually avoid Oxfam sometimes? Some of their items cost just as much as "proper" shops! Ridiculous.
The rainbowy-glittery one sheds glitter with every move... I will be a glitter fairy!

Niceness

Why we love vintage....

1. It's cheap.

... Why fork out £90 for a high street prom dress when you can get an original for a fraction of the cost?

2. It's unique.

... Where else would you find such random pieces? I have named it the "cake skirt" as I feel like a wedding cake in it.

3. It has a history.

.... This belonged to my mother's mother's mother... oldness indeed!

Now Look Here....

Having scoffed at "Look" magazine when it first came out, dubbing it the "poor woman's Grazia", I have worryingly found myself buying it on a regular basis now.

Although, no, it doesn't quite appear so classy as other publications (maybe due to having Cheryl Cole's orange mug grinning at you from the front cover...) I have found it's well worth the measely £1.40 for content. Skip over the mundane and repetitive celeb "exclusives" and although you won't find any enchanting editorials... there's a bucket-load of clothes/accessories/make-up (including a vast "new-in-the-shops-this-week section).

Although a slight "tack-factor" still exists... for a skint student like myself the heavy high-street content is marvellous. Although a girl can dream about Balenciaga bags or Gucci gowns... the reality is I get guilty spending over £30 in a week (another reason to thanks the heavens for charity shops!)

This week particularly, it has enlightened me that New Look (the most chavsome of terrains) has now launched an online store.

Although no, it isn't the most awe-inspiring clothing in the world... it of course has had some not-so-shoddy collections from Giles Deacon, and now and again you will find the odd piece which makes you say "This is New Look?!" then seeing the price "It only costs this much?!" and has you rushing to the till. Case in point being the shoes.... my words, the shoe section is really quite marvellous. Never over £30 and actually quite fantastic in styles...

(bought these beauts a couple of weeks ago and have had "love your shoes!" comments every time they are worn. Which is often. Yey.

So the website will definitely have a thrifty eye kept on it....

Excuses Excuses:

Life is very very very strange my lovelies. Hectic, and strange.

My beautiful fake of a Chanel was stolen a couple of weeks ago... with my life (i.e phone, purse, camera were inside) It's the priceless things you miss... like texts... numbers of people I'll never meet again... photos from seeing Yeti (an ex-Libertine's band)... blah. I also can't find a suitable replacement purse anywhere.... if I ever found out who the thief was I will claw their scummy face off. With my non-existant nails.
Oh yes.

I have been given offers from 4/5 unis (damn you Bristol... I never liked you anyway!)
I am now trying to decide between Goldsmiths in London, and Manchester. I hate decisions.

I've found some very amazing vintage things as of late. It is very nice.

Sorry Sorry Sorry

... sorry sorry sorry sorry!
I know there has been a ridiculous lack of posting (and commenting, which I feel rather more awful about) but life is just *ARGHSTRESSFUL* at the moment.

Apparently, my world has become this:

College, college, college and more college. I have too much bloody work! Tis my own fault for letting it pile up... but mucho coursework stressage is going on at the moment!

However... art coursework has resulted in this:

Turning a friend into a human canvas is tres amusant...

Myusss let's just hope I get the whole project finished.

On a lighter note, contrasting all the stressstressstress...

I have a new scarf....

...with a hood.

I am a mushroom.
